Time Travel

In case you didn't know, most of the country traveled through time last night. We do that every now and then. We switched our clocks ahead by one hour. It's Daylight Savings Time again, where we switch one hour ahead in the Spring to get extra time in the daylight. The idea being that we use less electricity and less fuel with extra sunshine time. In the Fall, we switch back one hour. Either way, it doesn't really work out well for me. For one thing, in the Spring, I get one less hour of sleep, one less hour of free time. Also, a few times, I forget about the switch and I end up being late.

But it's much worse in the Fall. I'm usually working late at night when we switch back an hour! That means a whole other extra hour of work! It's not so bad if you're having a good night. But it's a whole other mess when it's with a client who's expecting something more just because the clock's been reset! Sorry, but you get what you paid for. I find it much better to plan ahead and avoid dealing with a client during the time shift; unless of course it's a client I like, then I don't mind so much spending the extra time and effort, especially if it's fun.

And speaking of fun, don't forget to enter the Freakin Green Elf Shorts Competition at CyberPete's! Spend some time trying to win those well traveled Shorts!

  1. I stayed up till 1am last night - telling myself "It's not really 1am, it's actually midnight." I need to get to bed earlier tonight because I am exhausted.

  4. Did you know the rest of the world (outside of N. America) doesn't change time when we do? Some did already, and most do later.

I didn't know that until I googled it.

I got to sleep in on Sunday as well as today. :-)

  6. MJ, You know I was going to post some, but they were lost in the time shift.

Ponita, That is interesting. What makes it even more confusing for me is that I grew up in a small town that didn't participate in the time shift! Apparently, it's not a federal law or requirement!

It is a little confusing when making international calls to people on the other side of the world; I have to pause and think just how many hours time difference there is now.

Snooze, It's times like that when I have to remind myself that I am a professional and I have a job to do.

  10. Our next door neighbours in Sasquatchewan refuse to participate in Daylight Savings.

Did you know that you could just say no?

I love the reader-board scrolling thingamabob..I had the code for it...you prolly shouldn't tell me where to get it because I'll just do something really annoying with it.

I'm kidding I MUST HAVE IT!!!

  12. Donn, Well, I wouldn't argue with a Sasquatch, lest they stomp all over me with their big feet.

Here's a link to the post where I explained how to do the words scrolling across the screen thing: Good Fortune It's at the end of the post in red. Hope this helps!

Ponita, I'll let you know when I have this ready. I'll start working on it.
