Help restore missing comments from Infomaniac

*Updated 22 June 2010 at 0300 am--scroll to the end of the post please.

First of all, I'd like to say a very big and heartfelt Thank You to everyone who participated in our group action to restore Infomaniac on blogspot. You spread the word, you posted on Blogger Forum, and your support and efforts have paid off in returning Infomaniac. Thank you so much for taking the time and making the effort to correct an injustice to one of our own. Our multiple postings at Blogger Forum got their attention and got us action. All it took was one weekend (a weekend!) to return Infomaniac. Together, we really can move mountains!

Now, I ask for your help once more in solving a new problem. As you may have noticed, all of MJ's and Leni's old comments have vanished from our blogs. Furthermore, their new comments disappear after being posted. Please help restore their comments on our blogs (and theirs). I've started a new post at Blogger Forum requesting their help here. Let the Blogger Team know that we want the comments restored.

There are people who sit by and watch things happen; and people who wondered, what happened? We're the people who make things happen. I am asking you to join us once more and ask Blogger Forum to help us fix this problem and return the missing comments from Infomaniac and Leni Qinan. Click on the Post a question link on the sidebar to post your request to restore Infomaniac's and Leni's comments. We can make it happen when we work together.

Please support our efforts to help restore the missing comments. I really do believe in the power of our community efforts and group action to make changes happen. We've done it before and we can do it again. To paraphrase Dylan Thomas:

Do not go gently into that night! Rage, rage against those trying to put out our light! We ain't going out without a fight!

Thank you.

*Update 22 June 2010 at 0300 am*

I've posted a new request at Blogger Forum to help restore the missing comments from MJ and Leni. It appears that Google is not clear on the problem, as seen by their reply to Scarlet's request here. So I've posted this request to help clarify the situation. Please keep posting your requests and support to return the missing comments at Blogger Forum. Click on the Post a question link on the sidebar to post your request to restore Infomaniac's and Leni's comments. They are noticing and are replying. Our collective efforts are working. Keep up the good work so we can have Blogger solve this problem and return the missing comments from MJ and Leni.

You can also send them feedback at this link here. Tell them how you want the missing comments from MJ and Leni restored. And tell them what you think about their services.

Thank you for your support and for your continuing hard work to set things right. There is a great power that comes from a community that is united to change things for the better. Together, we can accomplish great things and overcome much adversity! Keep up the good work, people! Our efforts have an impact!

  1. I'm composing a Thank You post to all of you as we speak.

It will be posted on Friday if all goes according to plan.

And if they don't remove my blog again.

    Proud to know Infomaniac Bitches.

You're an incredible and powerful community!

  2. MJ, You're an important and valuable member of our blogging community. Infomaniac is the home to a diverse, international group of individuals from all walks of life, and you are our gracious host and friend. We stick together! We take care of our own!

  3. Mr Swings, is it okay to copy and paste your question?

  4. Yes! Feel free to edit it to fit your style as well! You can also just post a reply under my post or start another one.

We did both (posted under my post and made multiple posts) to get Infomaniac back on line. Every action counts! And all our efforts do pay off!

  8. Excellent! See? Our efforts work! Scarlet, just direct him to the previous posts and your recent one where MJ's comments disappeared. Tell him: At the current post, the comments link states that there are 45 comments, but when you click on the comments and go to read them, there are only 43 comments! The missing two belonged to MJ and Leni!

And that the current reply MJ posted at 17 June 2010 06:42 will likely disappear, just like the previous one.

  9. Scarlet, I just read your response to DarkUFO! Excellent reply! You said it best! And it's going to get Google's attention. Great work!

Keep up the hard work people! We're getting a good response from the Blogger Team!

He says he's not seen 'whole comments' vanish before - I guess he is referring to the old comments on previous blogs. He says he's going to esculate it to Google.

  11. Great job, Scarlet! See? The more of us who participate in getting Blogger's attention on the Blogger Forum, the more likely we'll get a quick response from the Blogger Team.

And it was your request that got their attention first! You replied to his questions beautifully, and now they're taking action.

Great job, people! Keep up the good work, getting Blogger's attention to fix this problem. Our collective voices are being heard!

  15. Eros,

Thank you very much for all you're doing for MJ and me. I really appreciate that.

Your first initiative helped restore MJ's blog, and I'll join this second initiative too. I hope this will help bring MJ's and my comments back to the blogsphere.

Thank you very much for being so helpful and supportive. You're great, Eros. And the wonderful Infomaniac community.

Even if the comments never reappeared... no words can express my gratitude.

  16. I'm back just to thank you very for linking my new blog in your blogroll. I really appreciate that! You're in my Wordpress links too now. :)

  18. Savannah, It's the power of the people! Things happen when we work together!

And I've a few of MJ's comments in my email, too. But all the old ones, I never thought to save in my email. Now I know better.

Mago, I've read closed threads from Google employees on the same problem of disappearing comments; the threads say that the comments aren't lost and will be restored eventually--one blogger reported it took them a month! I'm hoping we can get them to act faster. I believe that when more of us keep making noise and reporting this problem at Blogger Forum, they'll take notice and have to respond faster. Our group strategy has worked well so far, so we just have to keep up the pressure.

Savannah, Excellent! I luv the example you used! Fantastic. Every action we take counts, because it sends the message that this problem of missing comments doesn't just affect MJ and Leni--it affects all of us who've had comments/correspondence from them! Great job!

Leni, I've seen you over at Donn's and MJ's blogs. I'm sorry that we finally met under such distressing circumstances. But I believe that when you suddenly find that something has tripped you and caused you to fall down, you can either lay in the dirt or get up and dust yourself off and keep moving forward.

I'm glad that you haven't let this injustice keep you from blogging and expressing your thoughts. That takes courage.

I really do believe that if we continue to ask Blogger to restore the missing comments, it'll happen. There's power in community action.

IDV, Thank you for joining our group efforts to have the comments restored. The more of us who post at Blogger Forum about this problem, the more likely we'll get the Blogger Team's attention. We've all ready gotten a great response from them! So keep up the good work people! Every action we take counts; every move we make gets us closer to our goal!

  19. I've posted on the thread.

I think DarkUFO fancies Scarlet. Quite rightly too...she's hot!

It's good to know that 'they' were wrong about collective action. Infomaniacs stand by their own. Oh yeah baby!

  20. Roses, Excellent! We use our talents and skills when the situation calls for it! And we're a united group with diverse strengths we can utilize to achieve our goals. There is incredible strength and power that comes from many people working together, united for a cause.

And I'm honored to keep company with some of the most passionate and wisest and toughest community of bloggers out here. Y'all rock!

Keep up the good work, people! It's working!

  21. Eros, I'll write my part tomorrow, must go now. I will use my blogger-persona.
    Its downright not acceptable!

    ReplyDelete
  22. This is a test comment.

We'll see if it sticks or vanishes into thin air tomorrow.

When I leave a comment without my regular avatar thingy I.D. (what's this called?), then I don't have the "email follow-up comments" option so I have no idea if more comments are being added to the post.

e.g. My first comment at the top was done without my regular way of doing it so I couldn't opt for follow-up comments.

    Thanks, everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mago, It's an injustice! And if Google thinks we're just going to accept it, then they're wrong!

The more of us who speak out against these terrible actions, the more likely we'll get more attention and Google will have to respond faster to solve the problem. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so keep squeaking at Blogger everyone!

  26. Hello Eros, I posted my question here.
Wonder whether there will be an answer.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Eros, I try to find the bright side of all this: I've met the Infomaniac community and their admirable sense of solidarity and loyalty.

I'm a survivor of a zillion dayly battles, and Blogger won't silence me: 5 minutes to lick my wounds, and then it's time to move forward.

It's been an upsetting week, but hopefully it's passing.

Once again, thanks for your initiative. There must be a huge party when the comments are back. ;)

Those damned google bots must've eaten it! My comment count says 31 comments, but when you click on the comment link, only 30 comments are listed!

Re: email. Sure! Go ahead and put 'em up :)

Mago, Thank you! I'm so glad you posted. The more of us who keep making noise and complaints, the more likely Google will have to take notice and act quicker to solve the problem. We've all ready seen some response from them, so we're all doing a great job! Keep bugging Google and Blogger, people! It's working!

Leni x2, I'm so glad you're not letting all this injustice get you down. You've seized upon a travesty and challenge and made it into a great opportunity to take control of your work and move on! That shows incredible strength and wit!

I'm still learning all this tech stuff, too. And when we do get the comments back, it'll be a great day! Until then, I'll still rally the troops to keep on pressuring Google and Blogger!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hey hot stuff. Just thought I'd drop in see how you're doing.

Lurved your pics by the way.

MJ's comments seem to wink in and out like fireflies arses. Amazing that they could re-instate the blog fairly quickly and yet comments give them problems. I'm glad I'm not in IT dealing with a problem like this.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Do you think I'm going to have to sleep with someone to get the comments backs?
    Sx

    ReplyDelete
  32. MJ, You can tell those dang Blogger bots can't erase the total comments link count. I'm still short one comment in my comment pop up box: Yours is missing! More evidence I intend to use on Blogger Forum!

And I'm getting a good laugh at over at the pageant. I never really thought I'd be in the same league as the other talented, larger than life contestants! Ha!

Roses, Thanks. I just got off a long weekend working. But I'm off today.

Yeah, I'm really hoping that Blogger returns the comments soon. I'm sure they have it on their back up somewhere. And so long as we keep pressuring them to return the comments, they'll have to work faster to answer us, or we'll keep flooding the forum with requests--making more work and more bad publicity for Google!

Scarlet B, We don't want to use our most powerful weapon yet! I don't think Blogger had done anything worthy of your favors yet!

We'll keep posting requests at Blogger Forum to keep visible and get the Blogger Team's attention. The more of a ruckus we raise, the faster we'll get results.

I could be wrong but I think he might be under the impression that all my readers comments went missing.

Every move we make takes us forward. It gets attention and keeps the problem visible. I've seen a few of our esteemed supporters out there putting their help requests on Blogger Help Forum to return MJ's and Leni's missing comments. Thank you everyone for keeping up the good work.

If enough of us continue to put the pressure on Google and get Blogger's attention, flood their forum with help requests to return MJ and Leni's comments, Blogger will have to take notice and work quicker on resolving the problem.

Mago, Thank you for posting again at the Blogger Help Forum. I believe that if we keep posting there and keep making a ruckus, they'll have to take notice and action sooner. Otherwise, it'll be just more bad publicity and ruin their all ready fragile reputation.

I'm very hopeful we'll get a good resolution and have MJ's and Leni's missing comments restored. In the meantime, we'll keep putting up the pressure on them.

  48. Those Blogger bots have erased MJ's comments dated June 21, 2010 10:03 PM and the one she left at June 22, 2010 10:29 PM!

I've posted again at the Blogger Help Forum to report this continuing problem. If I have to, I'll keep posting new requests everyday until I get an answer. We may need to keep posting separate, multiple requests to get the Blogger Team to answer us and tell us why this type of targeted, automatic CENSORSHIP of MJ's comments keeps happening!

  55. You're all right, guys. This is censorship -Blogger's Terms of Service seem to be very nice and open minded, but then they take arbitrary action-. MJ even had the adult content warning (what else did they want??). I didn't have it, I have occasionally written slightly erotic paragraphs in some posts and postes some nude women pics, but I never considered my blog would offend anyone.

I'm doing some research and trying to find the websites of some bloggers or internet users association, in order to be informed about the procedure to follow. I also have the address of Google's H.O. and the names of the top management. They will send my complaint letter to the round file, but I have to escalate this.

I'm sorry to confess that don't like my new home at Wordpress. I'm too attached to the features in my old blog. I've lost many readers and hits because there is no blogroll in Wordpress and i can't get updated, so I'm very discouraged.

I'll let you know about the results of my research and when I complain to Google -you can bet I will-.

And guys, once more, you're wonderful. Thank you very much for all you're doing. As old bloggers you know that these comments mean a lot.

Hugs to all of you, and extra bonus for MJ.

I'm copying and pasting this message and saving the email notification to further add to the evidence I'm going to present at the Forum in a letter to Google's headquarters, detailing this massive failure by Blogger.

    Scarlet, Ha!

Let's hope the comments stick this time; but I'm saving them for proof in the case I'm building against Blogger.

Leni, I've googled automatic updates to wordpress blogroll and found several links to sites that seem to suggest it's possible to have an automatically updating blog roll on wordpress. Hopefully, it's all true.

And Leni, we'll keep fighting and raising a ruckus at Blogger Forum and Google til we get an answer as to why your comments and MJ's have been wiped out, and why they keep erasing them! I'm all ready working on more posts to put up on the Blogger Forum and emails to contact Google headquarters.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Leni, when you leave comments on other blogs do you ever leave links?
I was pontificating with an IT person today as to why certain bloggers may have been hit. MJ likes leaving links [so do I]... but leaving links may confuse a googlebot into believing that the comments are spam - if you see what I'm getting at....?
Too much copy and paste in a comment box may have a similar effect...
    Anyhow, I was just wondering.

I'll keep you informed if there's an answer -I don't expect anything from them, but I won't give up so easily-.

I also sent them my feedback at the link in your post.

    Thanks for everything!

  77. Mago, Looks like Germany is going up against Argentina. This promises to be an exciting match up. As for the English, well, now they know how it feels to be robbed of a goal, and there's always next time

Maybe now those FIFA officials will conceded that instant replay is a necessity in these world championships.

Leni, I know! Those old, outdated FIFA bastards need to wake up and realize that instant replay technology ensures fair play and sportsmanship! If figure skaters and swimmers use instant replay technology, what excuse does soccer have?

Leni, I'm so glad you're contacting the Google offices. That's fantastic! We'll show our support, too. I called the Google office in Mountain View, but it's an automated service. I may need to use the fax number too in addition to contacting other gov't agencies and organizations to look into the matter.

We are always being robbed of goals... not that I'm interested in football or anything...

  79. Scarlet, I blame thos FIFA officials for letting such atrocities continue!!! Those robbed goals almost makes it perfectly justifiable for the soccer hooligans to start rampaging!

  80. I think goal-robbing is a good English tradition dating back to Drake's days ...

  85. Scarlet, So long as you call me dirty names and tell me I've been naughty ;)

And bring your vuvuzela! IDV done broke mine while I was doing a victory celebration at his place--perhaps he's still a bit sore about how the World Cup is progressing.

  87. In my case, my blog disappeared completely! But it turned out that there was just some temporary glitch in Blogger's system. Perhaps we have the same case? Read my story about what happened to my blog, and you might figure out what went wrong in yours. Thanks!
