White Rabbit

I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date!~White Rabbit, Alice in Wonderland

I was off today, and I had plans. I was going to wash my car, get it inspected and renew my tags (they expire this month), go shopping for some items that I needed (and wanted), then call some friends to go out for happy hour and dinner. Of course, since I knew that I'd be off today, I was up all night, hung out with some friends who were off this week, and made some calls to the other side of the world. I didn't go to bed til about five this morning. But I had set up my alarm clock to wake me up in a few hours. I figured I'd catch up on my sleep by getting a nap in the afternoon.

While waiting for breakfast to be done this morning, I turned on the t.v. and channel surfed. That was a mistake. I stumbled on Disney Channel showing Alice in Wonderland, a classic! So, of course, I started watching it. When that was over, the Princess Diaries sequel was on. Well, I didn't see that one, and I was mildly curious, so I figured, eh, why not? And by the time that was over, I had passed out on the sofa. When I woke up, it was after six in the evening. I was late, very, very late. The tags office was closed and I was probably going to miss happy hour, but I figured I still had time to wash my car and do the shopping. Then the promo came on saying the Peter Pan sequel was coming in an hour. Curse you, Disney! Tempting me with your movies! So naturally, I skipped the shopping and dinner but got to wash the car instead; and I got it done just in time to catch the movie.

Well, at least the car is clean. Tomorrow, I'll do my tags during lunch and maybe some shopping after work; at least that's the plan. I'll keep in mind to avoid the tv tomorrow.

  1. Oh no! A sequel to Peter Pan too?

The Princess Diaries sequel is simply fabulous though. Am on my way to work not feeling good and I have a million things to do today.

When is Disney airing High School Musical 3?

  2. CP, It was Disney movie day at my place today, so I got nothing done, although it was a pleasant way to waste a day...I like Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway. They cast the right actors for that Princess Diaries movie.

HSM3 goes to DVD sometime in Feb09; that means hopefully, it'll appear on Disney channel by summer. We'll see.

Eat some chicken soup and feel better! Hope you have a great week.

  3. I would have been crashed out in front of the tv for the next day too if I'd been out until 5am, although I would have rented DVDs instead of succumbing to Disney. Are you back on a somewhat regular sleep routine?

  4. Just don't turn on that Disney channel until after you get the stuff done that you want to get done..Just say "no" to Disney. :)

I got a little preoccupied last night, I needed to finish exercising, but before I could pop in the tape, I found "Fargo" on one of the channels. So I watched that for a little while.

  5. The tube sucks life.
I'm also guilty, but not with Disney.

  6. Snooze, No regular sleep this week--I'm off for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day! The only holiday I try to take off. I can't recall the last time I rented a movie, because there's so much stuff on t.v. or I'm out doing things. But it is nice to vegetate once in a while.

Tara, I think Disney programming has hidden signals that cause people to be hooked on their channel! How else do we explain shows like The Wizards of Waverly Place or Cory's in the House? Seriously?

I avoided the t.v. til I was done with most errands and chores today. I'm glad my tags were done, at least. Oh, life's little distractions have a way of messing with our plans. Sometimes, that's a good thing.

Tickers, That's how civilization will end: in front of the t.v.

  8. Apparently all I needed to do was sleep, and so I slept and slept.

I saw a review of the High School Musical movie the other day and they deemed it dangerous for kids to watch because it teaches kids that life can be perfect and problems solved with song.

It made me giggle, the guy doing it was this pseudo intellectual pretentious movie connoisseur who had a bizarre fascination with depressing Swedish movies.

  9. Beast, You know, after the Lion King and the Little Mermaid, Disney films didn't quite meet my expectations. They were just, meh, all right, and I didn't really care to see them.

But then Disney hooked up with Pixar and churned out great movies like A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc, and Cars, I was like, hey, they're hot again! Although, Disney still puts out some crap movies and programming, once again raising my suspicions that they hypnotize people into watching them!

Happy New Year to you, too!

CP, I'm glad you're feeling better!

Those movie critics are so full of crap! I never listen to them. I watch what I want to watch. I don't need anyone telling me what I should think!

Seriously, if singing and dancing children in a movie is wrong, I wonder how he feels about the Sound of Music or Mary Poppins! Has he not seen any Muppet movies, either? Doesn't he know that
    We're all in this together
    Once we know
    That we are
    We're all stars
    And we see that
    We're all in this together
    And it shows
    When we stand
    Hand in hand
    Make our dreams come true
