As my dear ole grandmother used to say...use it, or lose it. And with this gop Im sure if you don't vote, they will at some point take that privilege from voters if you don't vote for so many elections. They would just love that.
Today is the day! We early voted so we could start day drinking while waiting for the results. (Looking at Mistress Maddie who knows what I'm talking about!) xoxo
I took off work early to vote. I had a list of which candidates (and bonds) I was supporting. I'm glad to see so many people, especially young ones, out there voting.
Scarlet, Thanks! It worked. We have success! And in local races, some of the candidates I voted for won. The candidate I voted for Senator did not win, but it was a close race, the closest ever! It was a long shot, but the close finish showed that my heavily red state is on the verge of turning back blue, after decades of red influx from people moving into the state. Next election, the Presidential one, we hope to go full blue!
The first time I personally recall seeing the Red/Blue party designations on voting maps was after the 1972 Presidential election. Back then the Democrats were Red (Bolsheviks) and the Republicans were Blue (Royalists), which makes more sense to me. But I guess that was a little too honest, so the colors were flipped.
LX, That's interesting! I'm fascinated by just how different urban, suburban, and rural areas voted. I'm really happy that record numbers of people showed up to vote. Our nation only works when everyone participates.

ReplyDeleteMaddie, Your granny was smart! I always tell people that if you don't vote, then don't complain about the how the gov't is run and the leadership!
DeletePeople fought and died to give us the vote. Use and cherish this precious gift!
